Nairobi, Kenya | October 29, 2026 — The Affordable Housing Board (AHB) has launched a 21-day Boma Yangu roadshow across Nairobi and neighbouring counties to sensitise residents on available housing units and help prospective homeowners register for the Affordable Housing Programme.

The campaign, launched on Thursday, will cover Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos and Kajiado counties, bringing housing information and on-site registration assistance closer to residents through activations in estates, markets, shopping malls and transport hubs.

The initiative will showcase 63 housing projects comprising 107,960 units across social, affordable and market housing categories, allowing residents to explore available options based on their needs and income levels.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony in Nairobi, AHB Chief Executive Officer Joe Mutugu said the roadshow would provide prospective homeowners with an opportunity to engage directly with programme officials and understand the available housing options.

"As a board we are showcasing 35 projects with 76,478 units in Nairobi and 28 projects with 31,482 units in the metropolitan counties," said the CEO.

The campaign will also assist residents in activating their Boma Yangu accounts, with a minimum contribution of KSh 200, while providing guidance on registration procedures, payment options and available housing developments.

Government Urges Residents to Take Advantage of Housing Roadshow

On his part, Nairobi County Commissioner Simon Osumba urged residents to visit the designated activation points to learn more about the Affordable Housing Programme and the process of becoming homeowners.

"I call upon all Kenyans to take time to visit the various stop points that the Boma Yangu crew will make during the 21-day activation period, to learn more about the offerings and the process toward becoming a homeowner. Kwa kweli, Pata Makao na Boma Yangu," he said.

Osumba also encouraged civil servants and members of the disciplined forces to explore housing opportunities available under the institutional and staff housing programme.

According to the board, approximately 26,190 units are under construction nationally for public-sector workers, including teachers, security officers and other government employees.

The roadshow's field teams and information desks will guide residents through registration, explain the different housing categories and payment options, and refer enquiries requiring additional assistance to authorised programme officers.

Affordable Housing Programme Targets 200,000-Unit Annual Deficit

The Affordable Housing Board says the programme is expected to help address Kenya's annual housing deficit of approximately 200,000 units as more developments are completed and released to the market.

Mutugu said the government was on course to easing the deficit, with 313,910 affordable housing units at various stages of completion across the country.

The programme is also expected to generate employment and business opportunities by engaging skilled and semi-skilled workers, including Jua Kali artisans and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Local enterprises are involved in supplying construction materials and fittings such as doors, windows, metal products, timber, paving blocks and furniture, as well as providing on-site fabrication services.

These activities are intended to extend the programme's economic benefits beyond homeownership by supporting local businesses, creating jobs and expanding opportunities for artisans and other workers in the construction value chain.

Boma Yangu Roadshow Schedule and Registration

The Nairobi and metropolitan roadshows will cover several residential estates, commercial centres and neighbourhoods across the capital and surrounding counties.

The planned activations include Nairobi North, Nairobi East, Nairobi South, Nairobi West, Nairobi Central and the wider metropolitan region.

Areas listed for the outreach include Dandora, Zimmerman, Kasarani, Githurai, Eastleigh, Umoja, Kayole, Donholm, South B, Kibera, Langata, Westlands, Kangemi, Kawangware, Nairobi's central business district, Mlolongo, Syokimau, Utawala, Kitengela, Rongai, Ngong, Kikuyu, Ruaka and Kiambu, among other locations.

Residents are encouraged to engage the roadshow teams for information and registration assistance as the campaign moves across the designated areas.

Those unable to attend the activations can register through the official Boma Yangu platform at https://www.bomayangu.go.ke/ or dial *832# to begin the homeownership process.

The board says the roadshow is part of its broader community education and assisted-registration efforts aimed at improving public awareness of available housing opportunities and expanding access to the Affordable Housing Programme.
