The initiative aims to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers by leveraging technology to connect skilled youth with verified employment opportunities across key sectors of the economy.

The collaboration is designed to tackle long-standing barriers to youth employment by streamlining recruitment, improving access to genuine job vacancies and strengthening linkages between employers and qualified young professionals. It also seeks to create a transparent and efficient hiring ecosystem that benefits both businesses and job seekers.

Speaking on Friday at TuWork Park in Nairobi during the launch, Eric Muli said the partnership is founded on the belief that technology can play a transformative role in addressing unemployment while unlocking Kenya's economic potential.

"Technology can transform how people access opportunity. Through our partnership with Joby, we are simplifying recruitment, connecting employers with skilled talent and ensuring young people build sustainable careers. When we invest in solutions that bridge the gap between talent and opportunity, we strengthen our communities and unlock economic growth," said Muli.

Supporting Machakos' development agenda

The initiative aligns with the priorities outlined in the Machakos County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) 2023–2027, which advocates for innovative, market-driven solutions to strengthen the connection between employers and job seekers.

According to the county's development blueprint, limited economic activity remains the leading driver of poverty, accounting for 74.4 per cent among working-age adults and 36.7 per cent among young people.

The new partnership seeks to address these challenges by expanding access to credible employment opportunities while supporting economic growth.

Building a trusted recruitment ecosystem

On his part, Joby founder Joram Theuri said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to creating an inclusive labour market where young people can access meaningful employment without unnecessary barriers.

"Our vision is to build the most trusted recruitment ecosystem where talent and opportunity meet without barriers. At Joby, credibility, transparency and long-term partnerships are the foundation of everything we do. Through this collaboration, we are giving employers greater confidence in the talent they hire while enabling young people to access meaningful employment and contribute to Kenya's economic growth," said Theuri.

The recruitment platform offers verified job opportunities across the creative, hospitality, media and technology sectors, ensuring young people can apply for genuine vacancies from trusted employers.

Unlike many recruitment services, Joby does not charge job seekers, removing financial barriers that often prevent young people from accessing employment opportunities. The platform also enables employers to identify and recruit qualified candidates more efficiently.

Monthly verified opportunities

As part of the partnership, Joby will publish verified employment opportunities every month while expanding its network of employers to create more openings for young professionals.

The initiative is expected to strengthen the connection between talent and opportunity in Machakos while contributing to broader efforts aimed at reducing youth unemployment and supporting sustainable economic development.
