The agreement also positions The Nairobi Hospital as the Headline Sponsor of the 2026 Pink Polo Tournament, scheduled for October, as part of its broader campaign to raise awareness about cancer prevention, early detection and regular screening.
Speaking during the event, The Nairobi Hospital Chief Executive Officer, Felix Osano, said the partnership reflects the institution's commitment to extending healthcare beyond hospital walls by promoting healthy lifestyles through sport.
"This collaboration allows The Nairobi Hospital to remain a visible presence in the everyday lives of our community, supporting people not only in moments of illness or emergency, but throughout their pursuit of healthier and more active lifestyles," Osano said.
Osano added that sponsoring the Pink Polo Tournament underscores the Hospital's commitment to championing preventive healthcare, particularly cancer awareness and early detection, while using sport as a platform to inspire healthier communities.
The Nairobi Hospital Chairman of the Board of Management, Dr. Barcley Onyambu, said the partnership demonstrates the institution's belief that healthcare extends beyond treating illness to building healthier communities.
"By supporting sporting events that bring communities together, we are investing in healthier, safer and more informed communities," Dr. Onyambu said.
Meanwhile, Vice Chairman of the Board of Management, Samson Kinyanjui, said the collaboration brings together two like-minded institutions with a shared vision of serving the public while strengthening their respective brands.
Kinyanjui also revealed that The Nairobi Hospital has established a Sports Medicine Centre equipped with specialised therapists, modern equipment and hydrotherapy facilities, positioning the hospital as a leading provider of sports medicine services in Kenya.
"We hope that this is the beginning of a longer and healthier relationship between the two institutions. We believe that, in the end, all of us will benefit from the good work that this partnership will deliver," he said.
Welcoming the partnership, Nairobi Polo Club Chairman Simon Muchene described the collaboration as a natural fit between two institutions with long-standing legacies and a shared commitment to excellence.
He noted that polo is a physically demanding sport, with many players having previously received treatment at The Nairobi Hospital for injuries sustained during competition.
"We are happy to have The Nairobi Hospital as our healthcare partner, not just for this season but moving forward as we explore ways of strengthening this relationship over the long term," Muchene said.
He added that both organisations have built strong brands over the years and pledged that the Nairobi Polo Club would uphold the Hospital's reputation while proudly showcasing its brand throughout the season.
The partnership builds on the rich histories of both institutions. While The Nairobi Hospital has delivered world-class healthcare services for more than seven decades, the Nairobi Polo Club has been at the forefront of developing and promoting polo in Kenya since 1907.
Beyond providing emergency medical support during tournaments, the collaboration is expected to use sport as a platform to promote healthy living, expand access to preventive healthcare programmes and strengthen cancer awareness initiatives across the country.
Officials from both institutions said the agreement marks the beginning of a long-term partnership aimed at improving the safety of athletes and spectators, promoting sporting excellence, and creating lasting community impact through the intersection of healthcare and sport.
