Government Reports Improved Security

Speaking during a security engagement in Samburu, Murkomen said sustained government interventions have reduced insecurity in areas previously affected by cattle rustling and banditry. He noted that security agencies remain on high alert and are responding to isolated incidents reported in parts of the county.

Fresh Intelligence-Led Operations Planned

The Cabinet Secretary announced that the government will roll out fresh intelligence-led security operations within the next three weeks to strengthen peace and protect residents.

"Within the next three weeks, we are launching intelligence-led security operations to mop up illegal firearms and disrupt the sale and distribution of bullets and stolen livestock," Murkomen said.

He added that the operations are aimed at dismantling criminal networks that facilitate banditry and livestock theft while enhancing the safety of communities across the region.

Grassroots Security Coordination

Murkomen also announced that newly gazetted locations and sub-locations will be operationalised immediately to improve security coordination, strengthen local administration, and enhance service delivery at the grassroots

The Interior Cabinet Secretary reaffirmed the government's commitment to restoring lasting peace in Samburu and neighbouring counties through coordinated security operations, intelligence gathering, and collaboration between national and local leaders.

Murkomen was accompanied by Samburu Governor Jonathan Lelelit, Narok Senator Ledama Olekina, Samburu Senator Dr. Steve Lelegwe, Samburu County Woman Representative Pauline Lenguris, Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda, and Samburu East MP Dr. Jackson Lekumontare.
