NAIROBI, Kenya, June 30, 2026 — Kenya is set to reinforce its position as East Africa's manufacturing and trade gateway following the launch of Africa 4P Kenya 2027 and Sign & Graphics Africa (SGA) 2027, two international business exhibitions expected to drive industrial growth, attract investment and deepen regional trade across the continent.

Scheduled for January 18–20, 2027, at the Sarit Expo Centre in Nairobi, the co-located exhibitions will bring together manufacturers, suppliers, investors, buyers and policymakers from across Africa and beyond. The events will provide a unified marketplace for businesses operating in the plastics, printing, packaging, petrochemicals, signage, branding and visual communication sectors.

The launch builds on the success of Gulf 4P, an international B2B exhibition developed by MIE Groups for the plastics, packaging, petrochemicals and printing industries. Having established the platform in one of the world's fastest-growing industrial economies, the company is now expanding the model to Africa, with Kenya becoming the inaugural host before future editions in Morocco, Ghana and Nigeria.

Speaking during the launch at the Iconic Plaza Hotel in Nairobi on Tuesday, the organizers described Africa 4P as more than just an exhibition, saying it is intended to create long-term business opportunities by connecting industries, investors and innovators from across the continent.

"Industrial growth happens when businesses meet, ideas move, investments flow and partnerships are formed. Africa 4P is designed to become one of the platforms that accelerates that process across the continent," the organizers said.

They noted that the exhibitions align with Kenya's industrialization agenda by promoting manufacturing competitiveness, strengthening regional value chains, supporting enterprise development and expanding international trade.

According to the organizers, Kenya's strategic position as a logistics, aviation and commercial hub makes it an ideal gateway for businesses seeking access to East and Central African markets.

Beyond the exhibition itself, MIE Groups unveiled plans to build an integrated trade ecosystem that will continue connecting businesses long after the event concludes. As part of that strategy, the company announced plans to collaborate with international export promotion organizations, including the Egyptian Exporters Association (EXPOLINK), to facilitate cross-border partnerships and help African manufacturers expand into new markets.

The organizers also said the co-location of Africa 4P Kenya 2027 and Sign & Graphics Africa reflects the growing convergence of manufacturing, packaging, branding and visual communication, creating a comprehensive platform for companies to showcase innovations, forge partnerships and unlock new investment opportunities.

The exhibitions are expected to attract exhibitors and industry stakeholders from across Africa and other global markets, further cementing Kenya's role as a regional hub for manufacturing, trade and industrial development.

The Kenyan government reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the country's manufacturing and creative industries, describing the launch as a reflection of its broader industrialization agenda.

Speaking on behalf of Principal Secretary for Trade and Industrialization Dr. Juma Mukhwana, Joseph Mbeva said the event represented far more than a ceremonial occasion.

"This is not a ceremonial occasion alone. It is a statement of intent by the national government," Mbeva said while delivering the Principal Secretary's speech.

He said Kenya is keen on establishing a strong foundation for the exhibition in Africa by drawing lessons from similar international events, adding that the initiative will position the country as a key hub for the continent's manufacturing, printing, packaging and creative industries.

Mbeva noted that the government remains committed to expanding and strengthening the sector over the next five years as part of its wider economic transformation agenda.

He further highlighted the rapid growth of Africa's graphic design industry, saying the sector is expanding at an annual rate of more than five percent, creating fresh opportunities for businesses, innovators and investors.

The government also underscored the growing importance of the creative economy, describing creative industries as a national priority due to their contribution to innovation, employment and economic growth. It noted that sustained investment in the sector is expected to boost exports, increase foreign exchange earnings and enhance Kenya's competitiveness in regional and international markets.

Meanwhile, Institute of Packaging Professionals Kenya (IOPPK) Chief Executive Officer Joseph Nyongesa called for greater investment in packaging technologies, arguing that packaging is a strategic driver of industrialization, trade, sustainability and market competitiveness rather than simply a means of wrapping products.

Speaking during the launch, Nyongesa said packaging, printing and plastics are essential industries that influence how products and businesses are presented to consumers in both domestic and international markets.

He said the institute remains committed to building packaging skills and professional capacity in Kenya and across the region while supporting technological advancement within the sector.

"We are here because packaging, printing and plastics actually matter. They are part of our everyday life," he said, noting that everything from supermarket shelves to branded consumer goods depends on the packaging industry.

Nyongesa emphasized that packaging is the face of a product, a business and even a country, arguing that no company can compete effectively in local, regional or global markets without quality packaging.

"Unless you present yourself to the market, nobody will know who you are. Unless you are visible in the market locally and regionally, you won't be visible," he said.

He further urged industry players to move beyond the traditional concept of value addition and instead embrace what he described as "value multiplication."

"Packaging is not only about value addition; it's actually value multiplication," he said. "When you look at packaging, it actually multiplies value, and the technologies we are discussing today support that value multiplication."

According to Nyongesa, packaging has become critical infrastructure for trade, industrialization and sustainability, particularly as governments and industries seek solutions to environmental concerns surrounding plastics and packaging waste.

He noted that although calls for a cleaner and healthier environment continue to grow, packaging remains indispensable in ensuring products are protected, transported and delivered safely and efficiently to consumers.

The official launch of Africa 4P Kenya 2027 and Sign & Graphics Africa (SGA) 2027 brought together key government officials and industry leaders, highlighting the exhibitions' role in advancing Kenya's manufacturing sector and strengthening regional trade.

Among those in attendance were Mr. Noel Puno, Director of Exhibitions and Projects at MIE Groups; Joseph Mbeva, who represented the Principal Secretary for the State Department for Industry in the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry; Mr. Edwin Masivo, Country Director of Global Exhibitions Inc.; and Mr. Peter Musyoki, Deputy Country Director of Global Exhibitions Inc.

The inaugural Africa 4P Kenya 2027 and Sign & Graphics Africa 2027 exhibitions are expected to bring together industry players from across Africa and international markets, providing a platform to showcase innovations, facilitate investment, strengthen regional value chains and accelerate the continent's manufacturing transformation.
